Shark Edge 4-80N
BX-14 02
Weight: 34g (LOW END) - 35g (HIGH END)
Design: A two sided sloped blade that extends down with large fins that extend up.
Uses a variety of attack potential: Capable of both strong upper attack (launching Beyblades into the air) and smash attack (sending Beyblades into pockets).
Attack VS Attack performance: In an attack vs. attack (AVA) matchup, SharkEdge can do alright, the issue that it has is the stamina it has and strong hits can either make or break for the match.
Attack VS Defense/Stamina: SharkEdge will certainly be your go-to if you want to nuke your opponent with a strong and powerful hit. It has a solid chance to either burst them due to the upper part of the blade making contact to hit the ratchet when it tilts, or knocking out the opponent with its attacks.
SharkEdge on Stamina/Defense: If you want SharkEdge to be a silent killer with the ability to potentially defeat your opponent with standing still and strong hits, it is possible to do so. The tradeoff of hoping it can win like that will be up to you.
Strengths:
Weight: SharkEdge has a good weight for being an attack blade.
Explosive Critical Hits: SharkEdge whether worn or mint can do VERY strong last minute KOs and strong hits to burst or to have your opponent knocked out in the end.
Weaknesses:
Low Stamina: Fast and aggressive but has low stamina, depleting quickly over time.
Negative Recoil: However, it is susceptible to recoil, which can lead to rapid stamina depletion or failure to KO the opponent when used for attack combinations. An example can be if a blade just counters it too well like PhoenixWing the recoil can work against itself and it can lose via being KO'd (Over Finish) or Spin Finish via stamina loss.
Overall: Due to heavy weight and shape this is a must-have for any collector it is an extremely good attacker.
Gameplan: On setups with low height on any aggressive bit that can get speed, like Flat Taper, you must hard launch and aim to defeat your opponent quickly.
Combos:
Attack: SharkEdge 3-60/4-60/5-60/9-60 Flat/Low Flat/Taper/Rush
Stamina:SharkEdge 3-60/4-60/5-60/9-60 Ball/ Orb
Defense: SharkEdge 3-60/4-60/5-60/9-60 Needle/HighNeedle
Weight: 7g
Design: 4-80 is a ratchet that has 4 sides and a tall height, the contact areas for the ratchet are 4 small points.
No real difference in consistent stamina: There doesn't seem to be a significant difference in stamina performance between the other sides of 3, 4, 5, 9 etc... However one should balance tune or try to test on a case-by-case basis before deciding what to use.
Strengths:
General Stamina: Generally 4 sided ratchets seem to have promising enough stamina.
Tightness: Aside from random quality control issues the tightness is usually pretty high on 4-80, similar to other tall height ratchets.
Weakness:
Four sides with smaller hit points: The Ratchet has four sides with small square contact points compared to a three-sided design. Despite having smaller hit points than three sides it actually makes it easier to hit since it is not as rounded off meshed onto the ratchet.
Tall Height: It is one of the tallest height ratchets, not only that but since the 4 points are easier to Burst than 3 sides you are extremely vulnerable to losing via burst.
Weight: 2g
Design: Needle is a Beyblade X bit that features low burst resistance and a sharp cone shape on the bottom of the bit.
Strengths:
Tanky KO Resistance: Needle is a unique bit since it sticks to the stadium with a sharp focused point on it. It is able to take strong beatings from whatever is thrown up against it and manage to hold its ground effectively. The effectiveness varies depending on shoot strength.
Weaknesses:
Stamina Risk: Since this is a defense bit the focus is pure defense rather than stamina, so it is possible if you somehow screw up the launch to get bullied and outspun by attackers or go up against a stamina combo and be outspun.
Burst Risk: Due to being a bit with 20 in burst resistance there is a potential risk to use as it has lower resistance than Balance and Attack bits. This is not the end all be all just something to consider.
Gameplan:
Somewhat tilted angle shoot and hold: To maximize the effectiveness of this Bit, you can employ a slight angle and hold the Beyblade on to the corner of where you are to lead into the middle to get those big hits without being knocked out.
Be aware of the top corners on the opposite side of where the Xtreme Finish is: Aim to try to KO with your movement.
Overall
This Shark Edge combo is wack, it is tall and the idea is explosive recoil that can maybe work but should be at a lower height, it is good for the blade and a decent bit, so a welcome addition to the bladers collection.
