Black Shell 4-60D
BX-35 01
Weight: 32.2g (LOW END) – 33.2g (HIGH END)
Design: : Black Shell has an 8-bladed shape with the heads of a turtle that protrudes out on it.
Low Defense: Black Shell is intended to have the gimmick of being on low height and the turtle heads at a low slope to avoid getting hit by opponents.
Defence Use: Black Shell suffers from the common problem of defensive Beyblades—being too light. While it avoids recoil release and can use its aggressive shape to bully other attackers, its low weight makes it prone to being knocked out, making it ineffective in battle.
Attack VS Stamina: The real benefit of the Black Shell is that since it is very aggressive in shape, it is best suited for attack combinations. It is possible on an F or LF setup, you could defeat top contender blades like Wizard Rod. However, it should be noted you do have to exert a lot of launch power just to make that happen; otherwise, you will suffer greatly and lose the match by being outspun. Nonetheless, it is a pretty cool, aggressive blade.
Attack VS Attack: Black Shell can hold its own in an AVA (Attack vs. Attack) matchup. With a strong launch, it can use recoil to defeat opponents, but it’s more likely to get outclassed by heavier Beyblades despite its promising shape.
Strengths:
Attack Power: Black Shell features an aggressive shape that gives it strong attack power making it very good to use for attack combos.
Weaknesses:
Weight: Black Shell suffers from the fact that no matter what it is very light making it need a bit of skill to make it do what it needs to in order to win.
Overall: The Black Shell blade struggles with defense due to its light weight. However, its aggressive shape allows it to be used for attack, though its effectiveness depends on a strong launch, making it somewhat inconsistent. If used correctly, it can deliver great results, making it a welcome addition to anyone’s collection.
Gameplan: On setups with low height on any aggressive bit that can get speed, like Flat or Low Flat, you must hard launch and aim to defeat your opponent via KO or outspin.
Combos:
Defense: Black Shell 1-60D
Attack: Black Shell 5-60 / 3-60 / 9-60 F/LF
Weight: 6.4g
Design: 4-60 is a ratchet that has 4 sides and a low height, the contact areas for the ratchet are 4 small points.
No real difference in consistent stamina: There doesn't seem to be a significant difference in stamina performance between the three-sided and four-sided versions of the Ratchet. Though this varies on combo to combo and should absolutely get tested if you are to try anything at all.
Strengths:
Low Height: It is one of the lowest height ratchets, making it a great use for attack combinations or other low height setups depending on context.
Weakness:
Four sides with smaller hit points: The Ratchet has four sides with small square contact points compared to a three-sided design. Despite having smaller hit points than three sides it actually makes it easier to hit since it is not as rounded off meshed onto the ratchet.
Weight: 2.0
Design: Dot is a cone-shaped bit with low burst resistance and tiny spheres protruding from the bottom.
Strengths:
Stamina: Despite being a defense bit, Dot offers stamina comparable to Orb, providing solid defense while maintaining good endurance.
Weaknesses:
KO Risk: When new, Dot can be somewhat aggressive due to the protrusions on the bottom, increasing the risk of a knockout. However, this weakness diminishes as the bit wears down.
Gameplan:
Somewhat tilted angle shoot and hold: To maximize the effectiveness of this Bit, you can employ a slight angle and hold the Beyblade on to the corner of where you are to lead into the middle to get those big hits without being knocked out.
Be aware of the top corners on the opposite side of where the Xtreme Finish is: Aim to try to KO with your movement.
Overall
Black Shell is a welcome addition to any collection, offering decent value for the price. The blade works well in attack combinations, while the ratchet is fairly average. The bit, however, provides great defense and stamina. It’s best to use these parts separately rather than relying on the stock combination.
