Cobalt Dragoon
BREAK OUT
Weight: 37.6g (LOW END) - 38.0g (HIGH END)
Design: The Cobalt Dragoon features four upper blades designed to produce an upper attack, which is the core gimmick of its design.
Attack VS Attack: In an Attack vs. Attack (AVA) matchup, Cobalt Dragoon will only succeed if launched with greater strength than its opponent. If your launch is weaker, Cobalt Dragoon will be outspun, resulting in a loss. When launched with proper strength, Cobalt Dragoon can compete with top contenders like Dran Buster and Phoenix Wing, though it may be countered by options like Tyranno Beat, which can disrupt its momentum.
Attack VS Defense/Stamina: Cobalt Dragoon can only win if launched with significant force. A strong launch can cause a Bit Burst, where the bit separates from the ratchet, resulting in a Burst.
Stamina / Defense: Cobalt Dragoon is hollowed out, hindering its ability to spin equalize effectively. Attempting to spin equalize will likely result in being outspun by opponents. While it is possible to avoid losing by max hard launching it is a wasted effort in the long run.
Strengths:
Weight: One of the heaviest blades in Beyblade X, offering a weight advantage in battle.
Powerful Smash Attack: With a strong launch, Cobalt Dragoon can force opponents out of the stadium, leading to a KO. Additionally, it has the potential to cause a Bit Burst if the correct angle is achieved during battle.
Weaknesses:
Launch Power: Cobalt Dragoon requires mastery of a string launcher and a consistently powerful shoot, making it difficult to unleash its full potential consistently.
Equalization: Cobalt Dragoon cannot effectively spin equalize due to its hollowed-out sections. Attempting to equalize in battle will likely result in failure. It’s crucial to treat Cobalt Dragoon as if it’s in the same spin direction as your opponent and launch as strongly as possible to avoid losing.
Gameplan: On setups with a low height and an aggressive bit that can gain speed, like Cyclone or Point, you must execute a hard launch and aim to defeat your opponent quickly. You want in an Attack VS Attack matchup to do a tilt launch hard generally, and against stamina to hard flat launch.
Combos:
Attack: Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 / 9-60 / 3-60 / 1-60 C/P/R/T
Defense: Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 / 9-60 / 3-60 / 1-60 H
Stamina: Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 / 9-60 / 3-60 / 1-60 G
Overall
Cobalt Dragoon's heavy weight allows it to effectively counter other heavy blades in the current meta, such as Wizard Rod and Phoenix Wing, making it a formidable contender. However, if you’re not confident in your launch strength when using a string launcher, this blade could be a risky choice. Despite this, its high power level against dominating blades like Wizard Rod makes it a must-have in the current metagame.
